The Campaign and the regional units will carry out adult mosquito screening in the endemic districts using gravid traps, indoor hand collections and cattle baited net traps. Once a mosquito becomes positive, parasitological surveillance (night blood filming) around the positive trap/hand collection will be carried out to identify human cases. Mapping of the positive mosquito trap and the positive patient will help to assess the geographical coverage of the surveys.
Also, Human landing catches and larval surveys are useful to identify the behavioural patterns of the mosquitoes which helps us to decide on preventive measures and integrated vector management strategies (introduction of lavivorous fish to the water bodies and clean up campaigns) to stop the breeding of the mosquitoes and to halt the transmission of the disease.
