Objectives
To stop indigenous transmission of lymphatic filariasis in Sri Lanka by 2030
To prevent the re-establishment of brugian filariasis in Sri Lanka
To integrate Morbidity Management and Disability Prevention (MMDP) services with the health system and provide essential care packages to all chronic disease patients
Specific Objectives
To strengthen the post-validation parasitological surveillance and identify and treat all hot spots to reach 0% bancroftian microfilaria rate by 2030
To prevent the re-introduction of lymphatic filariasis in the country
To orient the health system for integration of MMDP services and facilitate the provision of essential care packages to all patients with chronic complications of Lymphatic Filariasis
To prevent the progression of morbidities and disabilities associated with lymphatic filariasis among patients with lymphoedema
To strengthen the post-validation entomological surveillance and integrated vector control activities to reach 0% transmission of bancroftian filariasis by 2030
To strengthen advocacy, visibility and profile of lymphatic filariasis control and elimination to mobilize resources at all levels of health, non-health and private sector stakeholders in the country
To plan, facilitate and conduct operational research to fill evidence gaps in reaching total transmission interruption of lymphatic filariasis
